While driving home from a holiday party, I stopped at a traffic signal. There in the median stood a woman holding a sign: "Hungry." I lowered the window and called out, "Are you hungry?" She nodded and ran to my car. I handed a plate of leftover bread to her. She took it, thanked me, and ran back to the median. So begins a story that leads the artist and audience on a journey: through hope and fear, to curiosity and courage, to meaning and beyond. Performance: Friday, March 28, 2008, Shambhala Arts Festival, Tucson, Arizona. |
